To celebrate the fifth anniversary of Eco Enzyme Nusantara (EEN), Unity in Action held a special workshop and opened a booth at The Breeze, bringing sustainability and creativity to the forefront. The event showcased unique eco-friendly items, including eco-beads, the student community’s merchandise, and other recyclable goods. The event also highlighted the importance of eco-enzymes, demonstrating their potential to clean and rejuvenate rivers, making this workshop a meaningful celebration of environmental action and awareness.
Visitors were particularly fascinated by the eco-beads, sparking curiosity about the process of creating these sustainable gems. In short, Unity in Action explained that eco-beads are formed by eco-enzymes mixed with gelatin that will later give them their boba-shaped texture. But why choose eco-beads in the first place when liquid eco-enzymes already exist, you may ask? In hindsight, you might think that any form or matter of eco-enzyme is sufficient as long as it benefits the environment. However, in the context of “efficiency”, there may be a problem in terms of transportation, wherein eco-enzymes in a liquid state tend to have a higher risk of spilling during transport and storage, but when they’re in a solid state, those problems can easily be avoided. In the case of spillages, eco-enzymes in liquid form tend to lose some if not all of their volume, thus rendering them unusable. On the other hand, solid eco-enzymes like eco-beads, don’t face this issue - you can simply pick them up and use them again if they fall.
Aside from eco-beads, Unity in Action also showcased a merriment of their merchandise, ranging from bracelets, notebooks, creative trinkets, and even a commitment board to uphold the words of those who promised to work for a better future. And for every visitor that came by for a good look, the crews of Unity in Action patiently and energetically accompanied their experience with a story or two about their student community. This not only allows the visitors to fully understand the significance of eco-enzymes for the good of our environment, but also helps promote Unity in Action as a student community to thrive even deeper into society for a broader impact. As the event progressed, a brief intermission perked the eyes and ears of every person in the hall to attention, leading them to what seemed to be a dance performance. But this dance performance was not just any other dance performance; instead of using drums, they made use of plastic gallons as instruments! Alas, it was an amazing representation of what we humans can do when creativity exceeds beyond.
Nevertheless, it is never a birthday celebration without a cake and a candle to blow off. Unity in Action, along with the guests of the event present at the moment, deployed into a bubble of cheer and gratefulness for the birth of Eco-Enzyme Nusantara as the candle of the celebration was blown off. Then, without a break from the joyful atmosphere, everyone heartily marched to the fence of the platform and excitedly leaned over the railing. With grim determination, they opened the lid of their respective eco-enzyme containers, and together counted down the moments before pouring them away to the vast distance of river flowing before them. Indeed, it was a perfect way to end a perfect day. Needless to say, Unity in Action will continue to strive forward, with a powerful sense of obligation and determination, to create a world of a better future.
